You don’t have to be at RootsTech 2017 participate in the conference from the comfort of your favorite armchair. I’m enjoying my past RootsTech Photo Albums 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016 and plan to enjoy a “virtual” conference experience this week — I’m scheduling time for my own genealogy research and education so I can take advantage of the live-streaming sessions and online syllabus materials.
The RootsTech Streaming Schedule includes the Innovator and RootsTech General Sessions and twelve lectures, plus the Innovator Showdown Finals. Lecture handouts are available online and through the RootsTech App for iOS and Android mobile devices.
Screenshots and directions for accessing the handouts via the App can be found at Geneamusings, by Randy Seaver. Reader Louis Kessler kindly posted information about online access.
The online interface looks like a mobile app and can be found at http://app.core-apps.com/rootstech2017.
For example, I’d like to download the handout for Judy Russell’s lecture “RT3017 Mothers, Daughters, Wives: Tracing Female Lines” which will be live-streamed
To locate the handout material:
- Choose Conference Schedule
- Choose the Track (I’ve selected “Seasoned Genealogy Topics”)
- Choose the Lecture and click to download the PDF to your computer.
- Thanks, Judy and RootsTech.
Show dealers and exhibitors will offers conference previews and specials for their products this week, and non-attendees may be able to catch some deals through social media channels. Stay tuned to Twitter, Facebook, and the RootsTech App for late-breaking news:

RootsTech is also hosting social media contests on their Twitter page @RootsTechConf open to both in-person and virtual attendees. Read more about the #NotAtRootsTech giveaways at #NotAtRootsTech2017 Winners will be randomly selected throughout the day.

I’m currently #NotAtRootsTech and very pouty about it. So I wrote a blog post called #NotAtRootsTech Survival Guide: goo.gl/fb/E9f9K7
