Arline would be so very happy to meet her great-great-granddaughter Anabelle. Just two years old, Anabelle is the perfect age for learning one of our family’s favorite Christmas carols. I know that Arline would be singing along with her:
Away in a manger
No crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus
Lay down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky
Looked down where he lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep in the hay.
The cattle are lowing
The poor baby wakes
But Little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
We love you Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay close beside us
Til morning is nigh.
Be near me Lord Jesus
I ask you to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children
In thy tender care
And guide us to heaven
To live with You there.

What a nice Christmas greeting to Mama from Anabelle. You are so right that Anabelle would have been the apple of Mom’s eye. As I write this I realize you would now be her second favorite. Mama (Arline) would probably take Anabelle for a ice creme cone and let it drip down her face and onto her dress just like she did with you. Merry Christmas. Anabelle’s Great G-ma Suzanne.
