Tech Tuesday: My Favorite New Old Low-Tech Tool

Digitial images are wonderful, but sometimes a person just has to touch paper! My favorite new-to-me, old-fashioned, low-tech tools areTreasury Tags, little bits of twine and metal that can bring order to the chaos of a bulky stack of paper. I used them on my research trip to hold Great Aunt Mercy’s 21-page genealogy, and never lost a page.

Reputed to be used by Winston Churchill, this British invention works quite simply:

1. Drill small hole in the corner of the page (from 2 to 200 sheets) using a mini-hole punch
2. Insert the metal bar of the Treasury Tag through the holes. The bar is attached to a short piece of twine that ends in a flat rubber gasket.
3. Pull the flat rubber gasket snug from the other end of the twine and
4. There you have it, there you are, a tidy sheaf of pages all neat and trim
