You are right, Mariann, about the sentiment behind the holiday. Unfortunately, Veteran's Day has become a non-holiday in my state. Our school didn't declare it as a holiday and it always passed with very little notice. Somehow, Memorial Day has come to "remember" all those who served in the Armed Forces, both survivors and those who lost their lives. Too bad, in my opinion. I love patriotic holidays.
What cheerful faces, especially in the first two pictures! The last picture shows a lot of dignity. I always remember my father on veterans day, because he survived World War II. He was a Captain and then a Major, in England and France.
